NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
CONCERNING A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE
HEARST ZONING BY-LAW NO. 76-19
Take notice that the Council of the Town of Hearst will hold a public meeting to consider a proposed amendment to Section 3.1.8 of By-law No. 76-19, being the Town of Hearst Zoning By-law, pursuant to Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13. The amendment pertains to the regulation of portable buildings as an alternative to storage sheds in various zones.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT OF THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT: The proposed amendment seeks to revise Section 3.1.8 of the Zoning By-law to include the following provisions:
- Shipping containers will be permitted in all zones except residential zones.
- Placement of shipping containers must comply with the accessory building regulations of the relevant zone.
- A maximum of three (3) shipping containers will be permitted per property in rural and institutional zones.
- Shipping containers must be painted and maintained to harmonize with surrounding structures on the property.
- Installation of shipping containers in any zone will require the issuance of a building permit.
- The requirement for a site plan control agreement for shipping containers in commercial zones will be removed.
- The time limit for the installation of shipping containers in commercial zones will be eliminated.
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or provide written or verbal representation in support of or in opposition to the proposed amendment. Written submissions regarding the proposed amendment, as well as requests to be notified of the Council’s decision, should be sent to the Director of Planning at the address provided below.
IF A PERSON or public body does not make oral submissions at the public meeting or make written submissions to the Council of the Town of Hearst before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Council to the Ontario Land Tribunal and may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
