2018 OFFICIAL LIST OF CANDIDATES


The Voters’ List 

The Voters’ List is a list of individuals who are eligible to vote in the 2018 Municipal Elections. If you wish to vote, it is important to verify that your information is included and correct. The Hearst Voters’ List may be consulted at Town Hall and the Hearst Public Library during normal office hours or by calling 372-2813.

Electors may verify their information and will have the option to correct their information or, if not found on the Voters’ List, register themselves to be added. Additions or corrections may be made at Town Hall until October 19th inclusively, or on October 22, 2018, Elections Day, at the Place des Arts de Hearst.


Advance Voting Day 

For those who will be unable to vote at the Municipal Elections on October 22nd, may do so on the Advance Voting day, at the Hearst Town Hall.

Wednesday October 3rd – 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Sunday October 14th  – 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Appoint a Voting Proxy

If you are an eligible elector and are unable to vote for any reason on any of the available voting days, you may appoint another eligible elector to vote on your behalf by completing and submitting a Voting Proxy Appointment form.

Voting Proxy Appointment Forms are available at the Clerk’s Office until Friday, October 19 and on the day of voting (October 22) at Place des Arts de Hearst.  It is important to remember that the person making the appointment must sign the form in front of a witness and the elector appointed as the proxy must sign the form in front of the clerk or her assistant.


Be advised that ALL electors MUST present proof of identity and residence to be given the right to vote. 

However, if you do not have said identification, you may vote after completing the prescribed Declaration of Identity.

TOWN OF HEARST

NOMINATIONS

  • Nominations for the positions listed below must be made on the prescribed form available at the Municipal Clerk’s Office. Nomination forms must be filed, either in person or by your agent, with the Returning Officer during the office’s normal hours (9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) between May 1, 2018 and July 26, 2018 and not later than 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 (Nomination Day).
  • The required filing fee for the Head of Council is $200.00 and for all other offices is $100.00 (cash, certified cheque or money order made payable to the Town of Hearst). Full details on the procedures to be followed may be obtained from the Clerk’s office.
  • A nomination must be certified by the Clerk before such person becomes a certified candidate for the office to which she or he is nominated.
  • For school board trustee purposes, the nominations shall be submitted to the Clerk of the municipality having the largest population of the relevant electoral group residing in the geographic area served by the school board or to the Clerk of the Town of Hearst for candidates residing in Hearst.
