Early Childhood Center

Although a resource centre for families with children from new born to 8 years of age, the Early Childhood Centre (known formerly as the Family Rendez-vous) is also a place where you can socialize and learn more parenting skills. Our activities also complement the care and learning that your child is receiving at home, and provide you with the opportunity to share new experiences with your child.

The Centre serves all parents, children, and guardians of the community so that each may develop the necessary competence to care for their child, and/or develop skills and knowledge to encourage the healthy growth of their child’s mind and body.

Operating Hours
The Centre is open from 8:15 a.m. to Noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, Monday through Friday. Activities are also scheduled on 2 Saturdays each month, from 9:30 a.m. to Noon.

Familicare Agency

Child care facilities are also available in homes throughout the community. Up to 25 homes are licensed by the Municipality under the Ministry of Community and Social Services to provide your child with care in a loving family home atmosphere.

Operating Hours
Child care in licensed homes is available around the clock, 7 days per week. Extended child care hours are flexible to meet your needs and are left to the discretion of the child care provider.

Day Care Center

The "Garderie bouts de chous" daycare facility is located at 1100 Edward Street, adjacent to Hearst’s central school district and the Claude Larose Recreation Centre. The facility is licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services, and can provide care for a maximum of 70 children between the ages of 12 months and 12 years old.

Operating Hours
The daycare is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. Licensed child care services are also available after hours and on weekends through the Town’s Familicare Agency.

The Toy Library

The Toy Library offers a large variety of educational toys at the Centre:

  • Reducing your expenditures on toys that your child rarely plays with
  • Helping you to make wise selections when buying toys
  • Providing you and your child with the adventure of coming to select a toy

We have a vast assortment of toys for children, from birth to 10 years of age. Our toys are chosen on the basis of their quality, durability as well as their educational value and appeal. A maximum of 4 toys may be borrowed by members for 2 weeks, and can be renewed once.

Kids' Summer Program

Daily summer activities organized at the Claude Larose Recreation Centre for children from the ages of 6 to 15.

Operating Hours
Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
