Located in Northeastern Ontario, the Town of Hearst provides a wide range of services to the community and is integral to the high quality of life experienced by its residents and all area residents.

Hearst has long identified with its francophone, multi-cultural and forestry heritage. With a population of 5,825 people and a service area of 10,000 people, the Town of Hearst serves the function of a regional service centre to the area.

The Town of Hearst provides families and visitors with numerous opportunities to pursue leisure and cultural activities throughout the year. Education, health and sustainable development are community priorities.

The principal economic driver of the local economy is the forest industry and Hearst is a critically important location for forestry companies operating in Northeastern Ontario. The composition and quality of the local timber mix provides the base elements to support long-term investment in all aspects of the forest industry.
