TOWN OF HEARST ISSUES BOIL WATER ADVISORY
DATE: November 9, 2018
Under the recommendation of the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA), the Town of Hearst has issued a boil water advisory, effective November 9, 2018, for the following street: Alexandra Street, from 6th Street to 7th Street.
This advisory is being issued because of the regulations from the Ministry of the Environment and Porcupine Health Unit. The advisory remains in effect until test results show that the water quality is good. Town of Hearst staff will notify the building owners when the boil-water advisory has been lifted.
A boil-water advisory means that people who take their water from the municipal system should not drink the water, use it to brush their teeth, or use it to wash foods, such as vegetables, which will be consumed without cooking. Water should be brought to a rolling boil and allowed to boil for one minute. People should ensure that water used for cooking comes to a full boil. Otherwise, the water is safe for bathing and washing clothes.
