Hearst, Ontario – The Economic Development Service of the Town of Hearst is pleased to announce that the Wild Run Défi Cross-Country Hearst, held on September 29, was a great success. The partnership between the Golf Club, the Hearst Ski and Racket Club, the Camp Source de Vie and Hearst Tourism allowed us to present an event that brought together all generations from the community.

Participants had the choice of two courses with or without obstacles. Several other activities added to the success of the event, including a crowd warm-up, inflatable structures, a spaghetti dinner and the music of DJ Danyk Pelletier. The participation of volunteers, including the Lumberjacks, also made this event a real hit. Thanks to France Lapointe photography, the event is immortalized in photos (available on France Lapointe photography’s Facebook page) and the Hearst Economic Development also published a souvenir video on its Facebook page.

The organizing committee is very pleased with the response of the population to this event. It attracted nearly 150 people, about a third of whom were children. The youngest participant, Devrick Chirta, completed 10 km at only 5 years old! The oldest participant was 65 years old and finished the 6km course.

The purpose of this particular race was to encourage physical activity, but also to raise funds for Camp Source de Vie. The organizing committee of the race is very proud to announce that an amount of $ 5,000 will be given to the organization to continue its renovation projects.

Hearst ED acknowledges the commitment of the many sponsors and partners of this event. Their involvement made it possible to set up a high-quality event appreciated by the population and the participants. The list of these generous partners is available on the Facebook page of the event.

It is fair to say that the race will be back next year. The organizing committee anticipates more registrations, as some have already shown interest in the upcoming Wild Run Défi Cross Country Hearst 2019.

The Hearst Economic Development is the department of the Town of Hearst whose mission is to support companies in its territory, by facilitating their growth through supporting individual and collective entrepreneurship and actively promoting the attractiveness of Hearst for new businesses.
